ASI RUMOURS / CLOSED-LAB CLAIMS
Editorial context only. Does not affect Singularity Pressure.
A new kind of ASI claim is spreading: not that superintelligence is coming, but that it already exists somewhere the public cannot see.
The evidence is missing. The rumour is the signal.
Closed labs create perfect conditions for an unfalsifiable claim. One post says artificial superintelligence has already been achieved internally. Another says Safe Superintelligence Inc. may release its first model in August 2026. Neither brings a model, system card, evaluation or independently inspectable demonstration. The interesting shift is grammatical: from “will” to “has”; from roadmap to secret. That does not prove ASI. It shows frontier discourse rehearsing a world in which decisive capability appears behind closed doors before public evidence catches up.
If these claims remain isolated posts, the reported launch does not occur, or any released system looks like an ordinary frontier model, this is noise. It becomes a capability signal only when a lab produces primary artifacts, reproducible evaluations or credible independent corroboration.
